Sebastiside
Sebastiside (Sebastian Garcia) is a musician and composer currently based in Melbourne, Australia. He started playing guitar at 14 years old quickly exploring different styles of metal. Among his early influences are bands like Lamb of God, Sylosis, and Metallica.
Eventually, he found most of his interests leaning towards technical death metal and decided to study music professionally, which introduced him to Jazz, contemporary classical music, and Progressive metal.
He began gaining popularity through his YouTube and Instagram posts, and he quickly started reaching over a million views per month on his channels. In his videos, he mostly plays short pieces of music, and he enjoys exploring different musical concepts involving music theory, rhythm, and technique.
He is particularly well known for adapting a Spanish guitar technique called ‘Rasgueado‘ to electric guitar. “Hybrid Rasgueado” (Rasgueado with fingers and guitar pick).
To date, he has released more than 600 videos playing original music and regularly collaborates with brands like Boss, Neural DSP, Submission Audio, and Legator Guitars.
After his EP ‘Reincarnate‘ was released, he started focusing more on writing longer-format music in which he collaborates with a different range of musicians from the prog metal scene.
I think Guitar Pro is the best music software for guitar players. It has most of the ‘modern’ techniques I love to use such as slap, left-hand tapping, and a wide number of indications for notating things like Hybrid picking and Rasgueado.
It also has a broad range of rhythmic possibilities and I like the fact that I can write anything from 8th notes to 17-tuplets if I really want to.
It is the software I use to notate all of my music for me and others to learn, and I appreciate having all of the necessary tools to explain to people exactly what I am playing with an accurate playback from the software.
All of this is immensely valuable for my songwriting and people learning my music.
