I Built The Sky

I BUILT THE SKY is the brainchild of Melbourne-based guitarist, songwriter, and producer Ro Han Stevenson. Since its inception in 2012, the project has been known for its intricate riffs, shredding guitar work, and captivating melodic leads.

Ro Han’s impressive skills have been showcased across a diverse range of musical styles, from intense progressive metal anthems to delicate acoustic compositions.

Originally starting as a hobby and studio-only project, Ro Han has successfully transformed I BUILT THE SKY into a fully-fledged live band.

Early live performances included supporting international acts such as Between The Buried and Me, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Monuments, Plini, Intervals, Twelve Foot Ninja, Haken, and Polyphia.

In 2018, I BUILT THE SKY embarked on its first European/UK tour, performing 23 shows alongside Caligula’s Horse and Circles, further expanding Ro Han’s international fanbase. By 2019, Ro Han left his teaching position to focus on the project full-time.

In 2020, he represented Bare Knuckle Pickups at the NAMM convention in the US and conducted his first masterclass at Cal Poly Pomona College, followed by another European/UK tour with Monuments.

Over the past few years, I BUILT THE SKY has released several notable albums, including ‘The Zenith Rise’ which achieved a Top 13 debut on the AIR charts and a Top 20 debut on iTunes. The single ‘The Fire Inside,’ featuring Andy Cizek and Olly Steele of Monuments, and the ‘Coalesce EP’ a collaboration with Jake Howsam Lowe (Plini, The Helix Nebula) featuring members of Intervals, The Omnific, and renowned guitarist Andre Nieri, both received significant acclaim. The ‘Coalesce EP’ debuted at #1 on Bandcamp in four categories and achieved a Top 40 debut on iTunes.

In 2022, the release of the album ‘The Quiet Place Away‘ saw I BUILT THE SKY topping Bandcamp charts and performing a sold-out album launch show with a three-piece string section, featuring both new and fan-favorite songs.

The year 2023 was marked by supporting Plini on a 7-date tour across Australia, a successful crowdfunding campaign raising over $30,000, a headline Australian tour, and performances at various festivals including Radar Festival, Commendatio Festival, Brutal Assault Festival, and NH7 Weekender in India. TThe year concluded by headline Melbourne’s Outcast Festival.

In 2024, I BUILT THE SKY supported Haken on their Australian tour and released a collaborative single with Charlie Robbins titled ‘Fleeting Moments‘. Ro Han is currently working on his highly anticipated fifth studio album.
