When the New York band released Vivid in 1988, they single-handedly started a whole new craze among metal fans. By mixing driving edgy riffs with the rhythmic energy and the groove of funk music, they basically decided what the nineties would sound like. Vernon Reid also started with a new approach to guitar, using modern technology to achieve highly unconventional sounds.
