Henry Purcell tabs
One would be very hard-pressed to choose any name as the best German or French composer, but when it comes to Britain, Purcell reigns supreme. His two major operas (King Arthur and Dido & Aeneas) as well as the numerous songs he wrote (close to two hundred of them) defined the British answer to the Italian Baroque style, and although they were composed in the late seventeenth century, they influence pop and rock artists to this day.
