Many instruments have survived through centuries and testify of musical tastes of the past, but the hard part is always to imagine how they were used and what styles corresponded to them. The methods of Spanish composer Gaspar Sanz are precious clues of how the baroque guitar was played in the seventeenth century, and those techniques can easily be picked on by today’s guitarists through our transcriptions.
