John Lee Hooker is an American treasure. His guitar playing reflects the deep electricity of the muddy swamps, and his voice sends chills down the listener’s spine. He was among the first country blues artists of the forties to adopt the electric guitar, while still playing with his fingers in a blurry and driving fashion. His approach of timing brings together African trance music and boogie woogie. Even though he died in 2001, his music will live on.
