The Impressions tabs
Vocal groups were all the rage in the late fifties, as gospel groups from the American South were evolving towards a more secular material, under the influence of blues and soul. Among such groups were The Roosters, who became Jerry Butler and the Impressions, and finally The Impressions. Their lyrics became politically charged with hits like People Get Ready, driven by the beautiful guitar stylings of none other than Curtis Mayfield.
